Project Engineer – Mechanical Engineering
You will be part of a medical device product development team in Bern, contributing across the entire development lifecycle; from initial specifications and concept creation through to detail design and verification.
Role Description
As a Project Engineer, you will design and develop mechanical and micromechanical solutions in close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Beyond generating innovative concepts, you will be responsible for advancing ideas into mature designs by validating their feasibility through prototyping and testing.
In this role, you will also engage regularly with suppliers and ensure clear and structured communication of technical progress and updates to the project manager.
Specific Respnsibilities
- Generate concepts for product modules and complex systems in CAD, including detailed design of plastic and metal components, DFMEA, tolerance analysis, fundamental calculations, and finite element analysis.
- Design, source, and test prototypes, including development of test fixtures, test protocols, and report creation.
- Contact and evaluate vendors and contractors and manage these relationships throughout the projects.
- Develop assembly and inspection fixtures to test product performance
Professional qualifications
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Microengineering, or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience in the development and industrialization of medical devices is a strong plus
- Experience with SolidWorks and/or Creo is required; experience with FEA, COMSOL, and Moldex3D is a strong plus
- Experience with injection-molded and metal components
- Technical experience in assembly processes is a plus
- Creative, with a passion for technology; self-starter with strong analytical skills

Languages
- Written and verbal communication skills in German and English are required
